Get out of pesach free

Today is my last day of work before Pesach and I will be off for the whole holiday (not such a huge deal since I only work ~20 hours a week). I was just talking to my boss and telling her about the seders (the first I'll be hosting 24 people and the second I'll have 9) etc. And she said, "at least you don't have to worry about the cleaning and stuff right? And I told her, "wrong". She was under the impression that if you keep kosher the whole year, you don't really have to do all the major changes for Passover (one of her old co-workers didn't keep kosher normally and went crazy for pesach so this gave her that impression).

So now I am thinking, this is a great idea. We should get a "get out of pesach free" card or something like that. Hey, I work hard and keep kosher all year round, I don't eat out with my co-workers when they go to good places for lunch, I am careful with the halachos. Therefore, this should be my time off. My freedom from slavery (l'havdil).

I know this is ridiculous. I was just thinking about what it would be like if my boss's misconceptions were true. Oh well. Gotta drive home soon so I can cook and clean...

Phew, I was worried I'd be Cartman

Which South Park kid are you most like?

Stan

You're pretty normal. Infact you're usually the sane voice of reason when everyone else is going crazy.

Antler Lights?!?

I never knew.

I can't believe I have gone 30+ years without knowing about this.

Did you know that there are people who make and buy furniture (especially lights) made out of antlers? Apparently it is a HUGE market.

Just look at the google image search.

I am just shaking my head in wonderment.

Do I look like a pushover?!?

I probably wouldn't have blogged about this if it hadn't happened TWICE in one week.

Last week I was at the Gucci Giant and there was a guy in line behind me. I had put less than half of my food on the belt when he started to load his stuff onto the belt as well. I didn't want to say anything so instead I frantically started putting my food on the belt as soon as there was the smallest amount of room but I felt like I was racing against the clock. I didn't confront the guy because I thought that maybe he just didn't have a clue about grocery store ettiquette (you know the rule that says you let the person in front of you actually finish her shopping before you start in on her?). Anyway, I let it go and I actually forgot about it.

Until today.

I was in Seven Mile and the SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED!! This time it was a woman behind me. Once again, less than half of my food was out of my cart and she began loading her food. Once again, I remained silent. I don't know why but I figured that there was no use in my calling attention to it- what are the chances this exact woman will be behind me again in the grocery store, I didn't want to embarrass her. So once again I played the frantic game of catch up to try to get all my food on the belt before she completely took it over.

Anyway, I doubt I will end up saying anything when this happens again next week (because let's face it, IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN) but at this point I am really just wondering whether I give off that "walk all over me" vibe.
