Over at MSN, they have the video of O.A.R.'s concert at Madison Square Garden this year, I am not sure how long it is going to be up- but you should check it out because it is great.
In my humble opinion, the highlight of the show was the song "Anyway" which came at the 42:40 minute of the show so make sure to check out that whole song and let me know what you think.
Also, to all of the doubters out there- does it look like I was lying to you about their fanbase? They are actually big- and no, they didn't open for Matisyahu last year.
Was I the only one who realized the dude sitting in front of the business class on The Office was David Daskal from Average Joe 2? (and I know I have regular readers who watched that show so everyone else, Shut up.).
I haven't watched Grey's Anatomy in forever. I watched for the first time tonight. Am I the only one who hopes Meredith is really dead?!?
I know I have discussed this topic to death but we had another one of those horrible dinners where Ezra sat for over an hour before he dramatically gagged down the minimum required five pieces of chicken in front of him.
I sat there with him alternating between being overly offended (the chicken was really good, I thought) and overly frustrated. Greg and I joked that the irresistible force (me) meeting the immovable object (Ezra) were at our table. Anyway, I kept trying to tell myself that it would get better and that one day I will look back and laugh at this when Ezra is sitting at his own table eating every piece of chicken and hamburger (and everything else that he refused to eat now) that his wife puts in front of him.
But then I was forced to think about some of the men in my life. The husband who won't touch fish or tomatoes unless they are in stick (that is for the fish) or ketchup (tomatoes) form. The two boy cousins (ahem, they are respectively 31 and 33) who won't touch anything called KUGEL or lasagna. The father of mine who won't touch chicken on a bone. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that the chances are good that Ezra's wife will be serving hot dogs, chicken nuggets, pizza and grilled cheese every night for dinner. The worst thing is that she is going to blame me, the mother-in-law, for his eating habits.
If you scroll down a bit or if you happen to pull up any old entries, you might notice that I have made some slight changes on this blog. I decided that I didn't really want this blog to be "google-able" with my full name or with any H@rry Potter references. Therefore if you notice that I have started to replace the a in my last name or in other words with an @ or a *, know that I haven't gone crazy. This is quite a sane venture I have entered into (as sane as I can be anyway).
I want to take this public opportunity to with my husband Greg a very Happy Birthday. Today is a special birthday for Greg (yes, I am a few months older than him)!
You might be wondering what Greg and I are planning on doing for this birthday. Well, thanks to a comedy of errors, the three AWESOME things I had planned all got foiled (Greg knows about them- I told him out of sheer frustration when the third idea was ruined by a family member), so we will spend the day together (and with Gila who has a half day of school because of the snow and with the cleaning lady in the afternoon, woo hoo.) and then we will go out to eat. We plan on celebrating our collective birthdays for this year going on a GREAT vacation but that will have to wait a few months until we have time to plan (and I gain vacation days since pesach is during the week this year) and more money...
You can either leave Greg a happy birthday comment here, or go to his blog where he wrote an interesting post about his hebrew birthday and his GREGorian birthday falling out on the same day this year even though he is 30.
Happy Birthday Greg, I love you!
I haven't written about our trip to NY last week yet. I am not sure why. We had a great time- especially over shabbos and the concert was fantastic. I am just not sure why I haven't felt the need to write about it like I did last year. It is weird. last year we basically sat with our jaws down in our laps. We couldn't believe that we were experiencing something so amazing. This year it was almost like, "OK, this is normal". Shame.
I'll give a brief rundown of highlights from the weekend:
-Our experience at Century 21. Barf.
-The Samsung Experience. (Hat Tip, Diana)
-spending shabbos in the hotel across from MSG with Ari and Esti
-sleeping late(ish) on shabbos morning
-looking out of our window on Friday afternoon and seeing the jumbo-tron over MSG playing an O.A.R. montage- with Benj getting a whole bunch of screen time
-Going to the backstage party for all "O.A.R. guests" (including all our friends who were at the show) and getting free drinks- you wouldn't believe how amazing it is to get free drinks when bottles of water are selling for $4.00 at concession stands
-Having MSG all access passes (again, yawn. Just Joking) and being able to find a bathroom behind stage (literally behind the stage as O.A.R. was playing About Mr. Brown) to go to and being able to shlep along the pregnant cousin with me (the security guards were especially sympathetic to her plight)
-Being able to see Ari and Esti experience their first O.A.R. concert and having it be at MSG when they were taping it for both a live Album and DVD. Neat. Really.
-"Anyway". Best Performance of an O.A.R. song. Ever.
-Assuring Esti that the crowds reaction during "Love and Memories" and "Hey Girl" were nothing compared to what it would be during "Poker" and then seeing her reaction during "Poker"
-Spending time with old friends and new at the concert and afterwards
-The after party was a lot nicer than last year. I could actually hear people talk and I could walk without getting trampled
-Cafe K for breakfast on Sunday Morning- always fun. Good coffee.
-Getting together with family on Sun. Morning. Good times.
All in all, fun weekend. I was really happy to get home though. I had missed the kids a ton over this trip and it was nice seeing them again. If any of the people we were with over the weekend feel I've missed anything good, please leave it in the comments. Oh, here is a great picture from the evening. I wish I knew who to credit it to, but I don't- it was from someone on the O.A.R. board. Note: if you took this picture, please leave a comment and I will credit you properly.
