H@rry Potter Revisited

Well I finished the book late last night and I have to say this.

JKR- Thank you. This book was such a great improvement over the last one. It reminded me what I love about the H@rry Potter series. After I finished Book 5, I felt all "Pottered out", like I didn't care whether or not I read another one again. Now, I feel like I did after I read Book 4. I am thirsty for more.

There was nothing unbelievably shocking in this book, but it was an extremely enjoyable read. Many problems were resolved, and many were just started.
I want to write about the book in detail, but I will wait until more people have completed it (i.e., my mother).

I look forward to re-reading it, much more slowly, in the next few weeks.

H@rry Potter comes tommorow

Well, as its been written about plenty, the newest H@rry Potter book, H@rry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is coming out tommorow.

I have to be honest. I am somewhat nervous about this. When HP 5 came out, I went crazy beforehand. Greg and I waited the entire day for the books to arrive and they finally did at around 7:30 pm. As soon as shabbos was over, we both ripped open the boxes and started reading. We both read straight for the next few days (kids, what kids? Just kidding- I actually had surgery the Thursday beforehand, so our parents were taking care of the kids for a few days). Honestly, it was quite a dissapointment. I felt that JKR was so desperate to fill up space that she forgot how to write an interesting book. It was a painful read until around half way through the book when it got somewhat more interesting. I also felt that she wrote it more like a screen play than a book. There were certain scenes (think of the scene at the end with all the killing in the Ministry of Magic) that seemed more like movie scenes than book scenes. That bothered me.

There were some cliffhangers from the previous books that were addressed, but I thought they were addressed somewhat dissapointingly. For example, the Mrs. Figg connection, the Snape situation, the Prophecy, etc.

I don't mean to sound cynical about this, but I really hope JKR improved Book 6 and wrote a quality work that will remind me why I fell in love with this series to begin with. I'll write more when I finish reading it (Should be done at around 3AM Sat. night- Just Joking!).

From One Wife to Another, RIP: Freda Wright-Sorce

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Freda Wright-Sorce, the wife of radio personality Don Geronimo and a frequent contributor to the popular nationally syndicated "Don and Mike" show, died in a traffic accident Sunday.

FULL STORY

This is so sad. I started listening to the Don and Mike Show in high school when Greg told me he called in to their "freak show" and said that he was a Vietnam Vet who had prosthetic arms and legs and was able to remove them and juggle them. They waited in the parking lot of WJFK for him to come, but he never showed up (wonder why?). Anyway, over the years I listened on and off and really started listening again (whenever I have the chance) when all of the FCC censorship stuff went down and they really cleaned up the show.

Anyway, I oftened listened to Freda's calls in to Don on the show and I especially appreciated listening to her as a fellow wife. First of all, I always wondered if I were to be in the same situation if I would be able to call into my husband's show and not be annoying- she never was annoying. I also used to listen to her and Don's occasional arguments and bickering and appreciated that a couple could bicker, make fun of one another and still have a great marriage and love each other deeply.

I am really not sure what is going to happen to the show. I can't imagine that it will go on they way it has until now. In any event, my heart goes out to all involved with the show, and especially the Sorce Family.
