OAR @ MSG Take 2

I haven't written about our trip to NY last week yet. I am not sure why. We had a great time- especially over shabbos and the concert was fantastic. I am just not sure why I haven't felt the need to write about it like I did last year. It is weird. last year we basically sat with our jaws down in our laps. We couldn't believe that we were experiencing something so amazing. This year it was almost like, "OK, this is normal". Shame.

I'll give a brief rundown of highlights from the weekend:

-Our experience at Century 21. Barf.
-The Samsung Experience. (Hat Tip, Diana)
-spending shabbos in the hotel across from MSG with Ari and Esti
-sleeping late(ish) on shabbos morning
-looking out of our window on Friday afternoon and seeing the jumbo-tron over MSG playing an O.A.R. montage- with Benj getting a whole bunch of screen time
-Going to the backstage party for all "O.A.R. guests" (including all our friends who were at the show) and getting free drinks- you wouldn't believe how amazing it is to get free drinks when bottles of water are selling for $4.00 at concession stands
-Having MSG all access passes (again, yawn. Just Joking) and being able to find a bathroom behind stage (literally behind the stage as O.A.R. was playing About Mr. Brown) to go to and being able to shlep along the pregnant cousin with me (the security guards were especially sympathetic to her plight)
-Being able to see Ari and Esti experience their first O.A.R. concert and having it be at MSG when they were taping it for both a live Album and DVD. Neat. Really.
-"Anyway". Best Performance of an O.A.R. song. Ever.
-Assuring Esti that the crowds reaction during "Love and Memories" and "Hey Girl" were nothing compared to what it would be during "Poker" and then seeing her reaction during "Poker"
-Spending time with old friends and new at the concert and afterwards
-The after party was a lot nicer than last year. I could actually hear people talk and I could walk without getting trampled
-Cafe K for breakfast on Sunday Morning- always fun. Good coffee.
-Getting together with family on Sun. Morning. Good times.

All in all, fun weekend. I was really happy to get home though. I had missed the kids a ton over this trip and it was nice seeing them again. If any of the people we were with over the weekend feel I've missed anything good, please leave it in the comments. Oh, here is a great picture from the evening. I wish I knew who to credit it to, but I don't- it was from someone on the O.A.R. board. Note: if you took this picture, please leave a comment and I will credit you properly.

Did you ever find the Mendy's?

Posted by: Diana at February 2, 2007 11:58 AM

fine, i'll comment... you forgot the best part- TUNA AT J2 :). Really, it was a very cool experience!

Never found the Mendy's but didn't really look for it.

Esti- there was a reason that I didn't mention the tuna at J2. I am still depressed I couldn't finish my sandwich ;)

The glowing pink cups were cool also, did your kids like them?

Posted by: Diana at February 2, 2007 01:47 PM

Oh yeah, the Glowing Pink P.I.N.K. (caffeinated pink vodka, right?) cups that were like glow sticks were VERY cool. Those were at the Friends of O.A.R. party. that was neat. Mykids liked them but they aren't dishwasher safe so that is annoying for me.

Besides the company, concert and hotel, etc., I really enjoyed getting to hear Greg daven Kabbalas Shabbos and Musaf at shul. In fact, he was offerred the position as cantor for the high holidays (no joke).

It was so great to see you guys and the concert was VERY cool, getting the passes to the O.A.R. lounge was a nice little perk. "Poker" was awesome. We were about to leave when they started the intro to it, and I was like, "We CANNOT leave now". So glad I didn't! Thanks for everything! Looking forward to seeing you guys again soon.

Thank you soooo much for the awesome tickets. They were way better than the ones i had last year-(the band members did not look like ants this time). I agree with Diana, the P.I.N.K. cups were way cool, but just being able to go to the lounge was pretty dope. Twas fun meeting up with you after the show at J2-even if the help there is ridiculously unfriendly. Thanks again.
