Today I was driving down Stevenson Road in good ol' Baltimore county. There were two motorcycles in front of me. It looked as if the drivers were middle aged and they looked like typical bikers. I noticed a big SOB written on the back of their leather jackets. When I got close enough to the bikers, my curiousity got the best on me and I had to look at their jackets closely. That is when I saw this logo:

Semites on Bikes. Can it get better than that? They even have a Yahoo group!
that's awesome!
When I was 12, my family went to visit the Harley Davidson factory in York, PA. While there, this woman saw my yarmulka and came over and told me that she's with a group called Jews on Bikes, and that they go riding every single weekend. She said that when I turned 16, she'd let me borrow a bike to join them. I have their tshirt. I'll have to take a picture and show u.
Posted by: aishel at December 20, 2006 11:24 PMI'd love to see that picture. At dinner last night I was telling Greg and my brother in law (a.k.a. "Moishe Potemkin") about it and one of them suggested the name (please excuse the pejorative) Kikes on Bikes.

I guess Jews on Bikes, or JOB, is just not cool enough.
Then again, after visiting their yahoo group and seeing their entrance criteria one should think again,

Posted by: peninah at December 21, 2006 01:41 PMActually, there are a whole bunch of Jewish Biker Clubs. A couple months ago, we were leaving our school shabbaton (which was at a hotel in the catskills). The next 'guests' were a film crew filming a movie at the hotel called Goyband (see Goyband.com, that's a story in its own right). Anyway, all of a sudden, 30 + harley's pull up, all of them Jewish bikers from various groups. Evidently they were going to be in the movie.

Gee. Who would have thought? I think there needs to be an orthodox bikers group started. I can't think of a good name though.

(oops, that wasn't very nice)
Posted by: aishel at December 25, 2006 09:03 PMCute. Not very nice but funny. Speaking of acronyms, Diana was telling me about a support group for parents of orthodox kids (the parents aren't orthodox) called PORK. I think it stands for Parents of Religous Kids. Interesting and weird.
