San Francisco, The Rice A Roni Treat

As you can tell by the title of this post, 1. I am in San Francisco (actually Palo Alto right now, but really, who is to know the difference?) 2. I am totally jetlagged and exhausted.

Anyway, to recap the trip so far. First, here is a little message to the man sitting in front of me on the plane. I hate you. I don't mean to be judgemental, but I really hate you. Do you think it wasn't difficult enough for us to travel with three kids (including a VERY active and demanding almost two year old who only slept for the last 10 minutes of the flight) across the country? No, every time my kids made a sound or by mistake kicked your chair, you sanctimoniously turned around and gave me a rude look. I truly hate you and I hope in your next life you have twin two year olds and are forced to take them on a VERY, VERY long trip.

By the way, this is going to be a very stream of conciousness recap. You don't want to hear all the intricate details of this trip, and I don't want to have to remember them.

We are staying in Palo Alto in a cute little inn/motel. It is actually a lot nicer than I thought it would be. That is always good.

Ezra loves pointing out punch buggies on the street. There are a ton of punch buggies here, so he is in punch buggy heaven. Not surprisingly, there are even more hybrid cars here. Greg and I have started to yell out "smug-buggy" every time we see a Prius. Needless to say, we have been using that term a lot since we arrived here.

It is pretty amazing. In the past month, my children have made the bracha on seeing the Atlantic Ocean, as well the Pacific Ocean. In the middle of all t hat, they went to the Statue of Liberty. Gee, this summer sure beats last summer when we took them on vacation to my in-laws house in Gaithersburg.

Tommorow, we are going with Greg's aunt and uncle, his grandparents, and the Russian cousins from R.I. to Monterey. We plan on going to the aquarium there and walking around the city. Should be fun.

I am done for tonight. Will write more when I am not falling aslee...........*snore*.

Wow, i know what you mean about the guy in front of you. When I flew, I could see the look of apprehension as the person sitting next to us approached her seat. And I heard the big sigh as my daughter started crying before even taking off. I guess she just accepted it without saying anything. B"H, my daughter finally fell asleep at takeoff and didn't wake up until I woke her so that we could get off the plane.

I only get upset when people bring little kids on a redeye. Most of the people on the plane are taking a flight that time so they can do business the next morning. So when they bring kids that cry or sing or whatever all night, I get upset, especially when the parents sing with them or don't try to quiet them down. I'm fine on day flights. How else can you get kids from coast to coast?

And on another subject, I know I told you this before, but you MUST make it to: http://www.ristoranteraphael.com/ . It is SO worth the trek.

Hi from Canada, eh?

When I flew home from SF a few weeks ago I was next to a woman and her 22 month old daughter who had been traveling from Hawaii and were relocating in MD. The girl was understandably, awful. I tried very hard to be calm and understanding with the mindset that one day, this could be me. I was a little annoyed that the mother was totally unprepared for the long trip with her toddler. She had not a lot of activities or snacks for her at all. At one point the little girl took a huge bag of goldfish and dumped them on the guy behind her probably because she was bored. The moral of the story is, sit next to Lanie on long flights with toddlers. She'll be nice to them.

Sounds like a lot of fun so far! Enjoy the rest of the trip! Hope there are no annoying glares on your flight home. I have already made up my mind that we are not going to LA again until the kids are 25.

On our trip back from Israel, I was sitting bulk head (Baruch Hashem) and my seat was reclined. Let me just say now that seats are meant to be reclined. If they weren't meant to be reclined, they wouldn't recline. So, my seat was reclined, as it is hard to fall asleep with your body in a right angle, and the lady behind me was banging my seat. I turn around, she goes on a tirade in Hebrew about how this isn't a country club and then mocks me by suggesting I put my feet up as well. I sit here staring at her through her entire shpiel giving her a stone cold stare. After she's done, I continue with the stare, until she asks "Ata Mavin", to which I replied with a morbid, drawn out "Ani Mavin". I think I made her wet her pants.

A couple hours later the lady sitting behind PegLaz started to bang her seat as well and complained about it being tilted back. I am pretty much losing it at this point, and telling the lady this is what the seat is meant for. She replies that she can't see the TV screen when the seat is tilted, so I had to show the DIB that the screens on the back of the seats actually tilt.

Lara- We went last night. MMM good. I have leftover eggplant parmigian in my fridge that I look forward to having for lunch.

Sara- We are packing it in. I can't wait to be home for a long stretch of time.

Lanie-sorry about the rampage last night. How was your flight home?

Alan- Remind Greg to tell you about his confrontation with the guy in front of us on the way home from Israel when we were in highschool
