Goblet of Fire

Thankfully, Soccer-Dad (David) wrote about this movie because I totally would have forgotten to write about it if I hadn't seen his post. G-d knows I have had blog writers block for the longest time, so any chance that I can actually sit down and write something cohesive (sort of) is cause for a celebration.

ANYWAY, Greg and I went to see the movie on Sat. Night. We were both somewhat nervous because we really enjoyed the 3rd movie and the reviews for this were mixed. One reviewer really scared me because he said that this movie wasn't paced well and we all know that that was the biggest problem of the first 2 (especially the second) movies. I am glad to say that while the pacing wasn't 100% perfect, it really wasn't bad.

I enjoyed watching the actors/characters more grown up. They do humor very well now, it is like they actually get the jokes. Like David, I was thoroughly enjoyed the performance of James and Oliver Phelps as Fred and George Weasley. They have really made the characters their own. It is interesting that Draco Malfoy was a prominent part of a movie and neither was Snape. Luckily, Hagrid's lines were minimized (Sorr,y, he is my least favorite character). One dissapointment was that they didn't have Krum do the whole "Hermioniny" thing. I always enjoyed that part of the book. Luckily they left in Ron's line, "You're fraternizing with the enemy!!". Rupert Grint did that pretty well.

I like Daniel Radcliffe as Harry and I think his acting as matured considerably since The Sorcerer's Stone. I do feel; however, that he doesn't act out emotion well. His smiles and laughs look very fake and his scared scenes seem contrived. He is better for conversation and humor. Oh well, can't have it all. The teenage girls next to me didn't seem to mind his lack of acting skills. They were drooling all over him. Barf.

Anyway, I give this movie two thumbs up. Nicely Done. I didn't like Book 5, so it will be interesting to see how that movie turns out...

When Anne and I walked out of the theater we saw a woman who looked a bit like one of the Patel sisters.
