A name, for He Who Must Not Be Named

August 04, 2004 - Confirming rumors that have persisted on the internet in recent weeks, it was announced this evening that actor Ralph Fiennes (Red Dragon, Schindler's List) will play H@rry Potter's evil nemesis, Lord Voldemort, when he returns in the flesh in H@rry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

FULL STORY

Not bad, not bad. We already know Fiennes can play a believable villian (think Schindler's List)- this should work as well. The biggest problem is all of the age discrepancies . Weren't Hagrid and Tom Riddle supposed to be close in age? Robbie Coltrane seems a lot older than Ralph Fiennes. And they should both be a fair amount older than James Potter, Severus Snape and those guys. Alan Rickman is MUCH older than Ralph Fiennes. Oh well. I still think it is a decent casting though.

The above article also lists the casting of many other Goblet of Fire characters. Check it out.

My own preference would have been for Jeremy Irons. When was Tom Riddle Head Boy? Wasn't it 50 or so years prior to Harry Potter? Maybe wizarding folks don't age in consistent fashion.
