The title of my post makes me sound a lot more excited than I actually am, but nevertheless, it is pretty cool that onlysimchas has an RSS feed. Good for yentas like me.
Posted by peninah at June 1, 2004 10:52 PMYes, they've had the feed for several months now. They have separate feeds for new mazel tovs, and also entries with galleries. I used to subscribe to it, however, the site is so incredibly popular that I literally get an update each time my rss reader checks. And I also noticed that people edit the entries many times causing it to appear as a new feed as well. I eventually dumped it because it just became too much. I'm curious to see how it goes with you.
Posted by: aishel at June 1, 2004 11:06 PMNatan- what do you use as an RSS aggregator? Just curious. Yeah, I can see how it might be annoying with all the edits/updates but one thing I like about it is that it gives all the info in one place (i.e., the places where the people are from- when you go to the main site you have to click on the simcha to see that). It is a time saver. Once again, this is all to save me time while I am being a yenta. Scary.

I'm using SharpReader. What are you using? Maybe someone should take a poll to see what everyone uses and why.
Posted by: aishel at June 2, 2004 09:48 AMI use bloglines. Mostly because that is what Greg recommended I do and I am basically a moron when it comes to this kind of stuff. I am pretty happy with it though.
Posted by: peninah at June 2, 2004 12:11 PMOh, I've used that before. It's good, I just prefer something on my desktop vs. browser based.
Posted by: aishel at June 2, 2004 12:29 PMWe just launched futuresimchas.com, and I'm rolling an rss feed sometime today which will contain the latest profiles on FS.

Wow, *the* dov from OS.com has visited your blog! ;)
Posted by: aishel at June 6, 2004 07:22 PMDov- if you come back, would there be any reason that someone who is not using the services of futuresimchas.com would want to subscribe to the RSS feed?
Posted by: peninah at June 6, 2004 08:49 PMPeninah - when the FutureSimchas feed is available, add it to Blogdigger.
I have a subscription to a Blogdigger search for Baltimore (http://www.blogdigger.com/rss.jsp?q=baltimore) and it includes all the engagements from OnlySimchas that have a Baltimore person in them. I'm sure you could whittle the query down to just OnlySimchas posts (my search returns all posts that mention Baltimore).
Posted by: greg at June 7, 2004 12:36 PMGreg- Done.
Posted by: peninah at June 7, 2004 07:49 PMGreg, thats cool, I never thought of doing it that way. I'll have to try it out, thanks.

The reason? Either to find a match for their friends, or to become a user after seeing things which interest them. Though, you're right, it's probably more interesting for people looking to join, or members than the general non-dating public.
I posted and will maintain an OPML index of feeds at
