Tonight at dinner I found myself do what they tell you never to do in Parenting 101: Threatening for no reason.
Here is how the conversation went down.
Ezra: If you don't give me dessert, then I am not going to get undressed for bed.
Me: If you don't get undressed for bed, then I am not going to read you a story.
Ezra: If you don't read me a story, then I am not going to fall asleep.
Me: It will be your problem when you are tired in the morning. (how mature am I?!?)
Luckily we both forgot the conversation (he didn't get dessert) because I just tucked Ezra into bed. He was wearing pajamas and I read him a story. Now he will hopefully get a good night's sleep.
Posted by peninah at May 11, 2004 06:54 PMThat sound so frighteningly similar to my conversations with my five and a half year old daughter, sweet as she is. And you're right, the good thing is they forget what was said, and hopefully we do too.
