In case you are not as enthralled with TV commercials and the products advertised as I am, there is a new product out: McCain Golden Crisp Fries. The advertising slogan used for this product is: You won't get it, till you get' em! The deal with these fries is that they stay perfectly crispy on the outside yet still retain the wonderful flavor of a baked potato inside. Here is my review.
Golden Crisp Fries don't live up to the hype. True- they are not soggy, but they are not crispy either. They feel more like stale hard fries than anything else. I cooked the fries according to the directions on the package. I have made them twice to be sure. I am guessing that these fries stay perfectly crisp if they are deep fried but I am not going to do that for an ordinary dinner, nor does it advise that as the preferred cooking method on the package. One positive is that the fries taste pretty good.
Oh well, yet another product that I was suckered into buying that didn't live up to my expectations. I will have to put that in my back pocket with Crystal Pepsi and Pizza Flavored Pringles.
Posted by peninah at March 11, 2004 06:42 PMOne thing's for sure, regardless of the potential or lack thereof for this product to be mouth watering, I won't even attempt to buy McCain's Golden Chrisp until the "baby talking" commercial and the idiot who's trying to sell it with "baby talk" is removed from the air. If the person who approved such commercial were working on my board, they would (up to the CEO) be fired immediately. Thanks for letting me vent, with little else to do today. Yours Truely - Harvey
Posted by: harvey tuggs at March 29, 2004 01:51 PMI couldn't agree with you more. I haven't tried their product and won't as long as they are running that stupid commercial. We even turn the channel when it comes on so we also get to miss the commercials that follow it.
Posted by: B Harvey at March 29, 2004 07:52 PMI also am a follower of advertisement, sometimes too much, and I must say that that is by far the most assanine comercial on TV right now. The few times that I have sat through the entire 30 seconds though, I could swear that the older woman says "doggy doo". I could be wrong but it sure sounds like it. I can't immagine why you would want to associate your food product with feces. Needless to say there is a strict ban on all McCain products in my house.

We love golden crisp. It is the most "frakenewbie"! We dont understand why you wouldn't love it, that is all "waffle may may". All we have to say is "inkabibble Goldencrisp!", "ta rattlebee", "donny doo!"and finally "linkabinny".
Thank you
Kim & Aimee
It took me forever to understand what that commercial was trying to do. Personally, I thought the people in the ad looked and acted insipid and I wanted to slap that woman who says "doggy doo." I would never buy this product because it is just so transparent that they are trying to create something so annoying that you will remember it when shopping and buy it out of curiousity. I hate it when they try to make viewers into Stepford people...
Posted by: Chris at April 1, 2004 05:27 PMMcCain's commercial is so much fun. Maybe people who don't get it aren't in touch with their inner child. I'd love to learn this "baby" language - just for fun!
Posted by: Neil at April 2, 2004 10:30 AMI used to buy this product, but I will NEVER again as long as this campaign runs. I don't need my intelligence insulted. If marketers think by making an ad annoying anough you'll remember the product qnd but it, in this case it backfired big time.
Posted by: Marci at April 7, 2004 02:38 PMSorry I don't think the plan backfired...you DID buy the product at least once..that's all they really want. and obviously it is working because you thought enough about the commercial to post a message on here............

I felt I was suffering alone in my hatred for this ad, so finding this and other sites in which people complain about McCain's gives me solace.
Does anyone have a link to an archived version of this ad, though? My friend doesn't have a tv and can't belive the ad is that irritating....

Posted by: Harper at April 15, 2004 11:29 AMI agree this commericial has to be the most retarded.Might as well say eating these french fries makes your vocabulary 10 years younger. and that old lady that says donny doo really needs to b smacked.
Posted by: Alex at April 16, 2004 02:30 PMThis is a Google hit for "Waffle May May". Hah!
Posted by: Epigone at April 22, 2004 02:02 PMThose morons who put together that idiotic 'baby talk' commercial for McCain's Fries should be shot. Who are they targeting with that crap? Talk about the dumbing down of America! If they had toddlers doing that commercial and talking like that it may be tolerable, but as it is, any intelligent person within ear shot wants to start throwing things at the TV set every time it airs. That spot has got to be one of the worst commercials of all time. It certainly isn't making people run to the store for those stupid fries! McCain's...give us a break.
Posted by: Joanne at April 28, 2004 12:26 PMI will never buy them, because the advertising is for idiots and makes our country look like a nation of morons.
Posted by: Phyllis McDuffee at May 1, 2004 04:24 PMA couple of weeks ago our nation was introduced to the worst and most outrageous comercial of our era. This commercial should be taken to court as proceeded! AS with me i also agree the everyone who exists will and does hate this...
"Waffle May May"! Quote the biggest homo of all time "guy from golden crisp commercial...

Posted by: Thomas Romer at May 9, 2004 09:21 AMwhere can I see that commerical online?
Even Though I'm only 12 years old, I thought this was byfar the stupidest and most pointless commercial I've ever seen!
