NEW YORK (AP) -- Actor Earl Hindman, best known for playing a neighbor whose face was forever obscured by a fence on the television show "Home Improvement," died of lung cancer Monday in Stamford, Connecticut. He was 61.
FULL STORY
Wow, that is sad. Earl Hindman was one of the best actors I never saw.

Posted by: JosiahQ at December 30, 2003 12:21 PMHe was just the nice neighbor who always had wise advice to give the the ever-so-goofy Tim. He was the best part of that show.

I actually did see his face once, he played a lawyer on Law and Order.
And yes Earl Hindman was a pleasure on Home Improvement.
Still my favorite line on the show was one by the middle son (... Jason Thomas or something like that) Some people were talking about make-believe and he said "I used to be a lion cub" (or something like that) and the joke is that he was the voice of the young Simba in the Lion King.
What did he look like? I always imagined he looked like Jim Varney (A.K.A. Ernest P. Worrell of "You know what I mean, Verne" Fame)
