Doctor Blames 'H@rry Potter' For Kids' Headaches
Dr. Howard Bennett, a pediatrician writing in this week's issue of the New England Journal of Medicine, said he had three otherwise healthy children between 8 and 10 years old complain of headaches for two to three days last summer. One child also complained of neck and wrist pain.
After some questioning, Bennett found that all three had been reading the 870-page "H@rry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" book for six to eight hours a day. Two of the children read while lying on their stomachs, and the third propped the book on her legs and rested her head on a pillow.Full Story
I am a huge HP fan, but I have to say, I wouldn't be too dissapointed if some of these kids parents sued JKR and Scholastic Books for their kids "undue suffering." I am not a proponent of suing for no reason, but hey, maybe this will cause JKR to stop being so unnecessarily verbose.
Posted by peninah at October 30, 2003 09:23 AMThe problem is the children aren't used to reading.
Here is another answer:
"The take-home message for kids is to keep reading," says Bennett. "Read at a desk with good lighting and take breaks."

Sueing JKR will have no effect. She wouldn't notice millions missing from her bank account.
True- I just want her to get back writing the stories for their content- not to write the longest children's books.
